I read the scripture and let me tell you, I needed that. In verse 2 it says, " From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I." In the NIV it says, "From the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to The Rock that is higher than I."
I know about the heart growing faint because sometimes I feel like I am on an island, hanging on by a thread, help Lord. Deliver Me. Lord, I need You to speak directly to my soul and say to it that "You are my salvation". I know that You are GOD, yes, I know that you are the impossible but Lord my mind is trying to go astray; so Lord say unto my soul that You are my salvation because when you speak things are done. At the bat of Your eye things are healed. At Your very breath life goes into a vessel and You command them to live. Overtake me with Your presence. It is reassuring when I am in Your presence.
In verse 6, David is so overwhelmed that he begins to talk in third person to the Lord, he says, " Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations. May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him."
Sometimes you just want to push that invisible button remember the Lord is your strength and your protection. He will hide you in His secret place. Rest in Him.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert (not openly acknowledged or displayed) of Your wings.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-29 NIV
1 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. 2 From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. 4 I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. 5 For you, God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. 6 Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations. 7 May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him. 8 Then I will ever sing in praise of your name and fulfill my vows day after day.
